Rural Education Development Project
Providing equal opportunity in the area of education to school age children in the remote areas of Thailand is something that we have focused on at iCare Thailand Foundation. The rural schools often lack the necessary resources to properly educate and care for the children.
Bahn Jahn Hom Tasek School is one of these places. Located approximately 7 kilometers from the Cambodian border this impoverished school provides education to the children in the Kantalalak District of Sisaket province.
With the main building at Bahn Jahn Hom Tasek being over 40 years old the doors and windows desperately needed repair. As there was no library at the school, the children lacked the materials to complete their studies properly.
Through the help of generous sponsors and partners iCTF was able to completely renovate the main school building: the electrical wiring, lights and fans were replaced and new doors and windows were installed. We also set up a library, with enough books and resources for the 160 children studying at Bahn Jahn Hom Tasek.
On July 6th, a team from iCTF attended the opening ceremony of the new building at Bahn Jahn Hom Tasek School. Working alongside the staff and children from the school, we finished painting the exterior of the new building. Everyone was rewarded for their hard work with an afternoon of fun and games, a delicious lunch and a special treat: ice-cream.
