Supplies for Children with HIV

Supplies for Children with HIV

Date: Mar 2016Location: Nongkhai Province

Sarnelli House, located in the Don Wai District of Nongkhai Province, was established more than 20 years ago as a safe haven for children who have been ostracized by society after losing their parents to HIV or being diagnosed with it themselves. With more than 160 children residing at Sarnelli House there is always a great need for essential supplies like food items, educational materials, and clothes.

For more than 7 years, iCare Thailand Foundation has been assisting Sarnelli House and on March 31st we were thrilled to deliver over 2 tons of donated supplies to provide for the children’s needs. This donation was received with much gratitude by both the children and staff.

In addition to delivering the supplies, our team hosted a fun day of games, activities and prizes for all. The day was completed by a delicious meal of noodles and meatballs, followed by a real treat for children: ice-cream! This was a special occasion for them as there are few visitors at Sarnelli House and they were greatly encouraged by it.

“This is the best thing that has happened in a long, long time,” said Noi, a 10-year old girl who has been at Sarnelli House for only two months. Her mother had dropped her off there after she was diagnosed HIV positive. “Please come back again soon,” was something we heard from many of the precious children.

We would not be able to make worthy projects like this a reality without your continued support. On behalf of all the children at Sarnelli House, thank you!
